Tough weekend in Budapest

Formula 3 — July 23, 2024

After not improving our position in the standings during the British GP, we were eager to get back out there at the Hungaroring in Budapest. A short track which ensures us some exciting racing. Starting the eighth round of the season as usual with Practise and Qualifying on Friday.

Practice and Qualifying

During the Practice Session, Alex set the tenth fastest time on the grid. Tim got P21, and Kacper P29 in the end. Our drivers did manage to find a good pace during the Qualifying Session later that day. In the end, this meant a P9 for Tim, who will start the Sprint Race from the third row on Saturday. Alex was on an amazing lap when the Red Flag was called, cutting him from a possible P6 finish. This led to the Irishman getting P26 taking into account his penalty incurred at Silverstone. Kacper finished the session with the twenty-sixth time on the grid.

Sprint Race

After a great start to the race, Tim managed to overtake his competitor for P5. On the 11th lap he made a move and once again overtook the driver in front of him, getting P4 in the end and some good points to his tally. Alex got past six opposing drivers, showing good pace and getting P20. Kacper lost one place compared to his starting position and finished in 27th.

Feature Race

The main event on Sunday did not go our way. Tim camped with technical issues, causing him to start from the pitlane. He did show his class by gaining positions from the back but got an undesirable P21 when crossing the finish line. Alex and Kacper had made up multiple positions, which led to them getting P17 and P19 consecutively.

Not the way we wanted to finish the weekend at the Hungaroring, but still eager to see what we’ll manage to set up for the penultimate round of the season. It will take us to Spa-Francorchamps next week.

Standings after the eighth round of the season:
P9 Tim – 54 points
P15 Alex – 29 points
P26 Kacper – 6 points

Team standings:
P6 – 89 points
