This weekend was the first round of the Spanish F4 2023 season, where we kicked the season off on the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. We started the season off strong with an incredible amount of 3 race wins and overall 5 podium positions!
Friday saw a strong start to our weekend, when Pedro took pole position in Qualifying 1 and Valerio took pole position in Qualifying 2. Just before the first qualifying session started, the rain came pouring down, and we had a wet qualifying session. The results for Qualifying 1 were P1 Pedro, P2 Keanu, P3 Valerio, P5 Jeronimo and P28 Alvise. Right after the first qualifying round we went into the Qualifying 2. With the track drying up and the changing conditions the results were P1 Valerio, P2 Keanu, P4 Pedro, P19 Jeronimo and P26 Alvise. These results meant Pedro starting Race 1 in P1, Keanu starting Race 2 in P1 and Valerio starting Race 3 in P1.
With Pedro starting on pole position and Keanu in P2 for Race 1, Keanu had a better start and overtook Pedro. After the safety car restart Pedro took the lead of the race again and when the race ended under safety car conditions Pedro won the race. Race 1 results: P1 Pedro, P3 Keanu, P8 Jeronimo, P19 Valerio, P20 Alvise.
With Keanu starting Race 2 from pole, he unfortunately had no luck and didn’t finish the race. With a double overtake Pedro took the lead of the race with Valerio in P2! Our finishing positions this race were P1 Pedro, P2 Valerio, P8 Jeronimo, DNF Keanu and DNF Alvise.
Sunday’s final race, Race 3, saw Valerio leading the entire race. With Keanu going wide and losing a couple of positions, he lost his P2 and we saw Pedro still fighting for a podium in P4. With a close midfield it was hard to overtake, but Pedro managed to get into P3 by the end of the race. The results of Race 3 were P1 Valerio, P3 Pedro, P5 Keanu, P6 Jeronimo and P15 Alvise. After post race penalties Valerio lost his P1. Pedro was promoted to P2.
The next Spanish F4 race will be in Motorland (Spain), and will take place on the weekend of May 26-27-28.
