Qualifying improvements in Belgium

Formula 3 — July 29, 2024

For the penultimate race round of the FIA Formula 3 season, the team moved from Budapest straight to Spa-Francorchamps. The team improved massively on Friday, but rain on Saturday and a wet track on Sunday gave us tough conditions to race in.

Practice and Qualifying

The Practice session on Friday morning started with rain, but during the session, the rain stopped and the track improved. We finished with all 3 MP drivers in the top 10, Alex and Kacper in P4 and 5, and Tim in P8. We’ve had drier conditions during the Qualifying session, where Alex managed to get a front-row result by qualifying second, and Tim finished the session in ninth. Unfortunately, Kacper’s time was deleted due to track limits, so he had to start the races from the back of the grid.

Sprint Race

Tim started the Sprint Race from fourth due to the revised grid order. Although it wasn’t raining, there were quite some wet spots on the track. Tim managed to get up to P3, but went wide in the final laps and fell back to fourth. After post-race penalties, Alex was classified in P23 and Kacper in P20.

Feature Race

Sunday was a tough race, with lots of laps driven behind the safety car. Alex had a mechanical issue and dropped back to P10, Tim finished in P9 and Kacper in P18.

We’re using the summer break to reset and get ready for the final round in Monza, happening in the last weekend of August.

Standings after the eighth round of the season:
P11 Tim – 63 points
P17 Alex – 30 points
P27 Kacper – 6 points

Team standings:
P6 – 99 points
