Young Spanish karting star Lucas Fluxá will get his single-seater promotion after signing with MP Motorsport for the 2024 season. The 15-year-old from Palma de Mallorca will make his debut in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship to be part of a strong line-up that now includes five drivers.
The younger brother of Lorenzo Fluxá who this year competed in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine was ready for his step up onto the single-seater ladder after a highly successful karting career that saw him win at both national and international level. Now the Spaniard will join the previously announced Maciej Gładysz, René Lammers, Griffin Peebles and Mattia Colnaghi in a MP Motorsport squad that is aiming to take the Spanish F4 series by storm.
“I’m really happy to be able to make my motorsport debut with MP Motorsport in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship”, said Fluxá. “Racing in what feels like my home series will help me to quickly find my feet in single-seaters, and MP have traditionally been one of the strongest teams in the series, so I couldn’t wish for more in my first full year out of karts. The line-up of team mates looks strong, so I’m confident that we will be able to push each other to great heights. Let’s get going!”
“I am pleased to welcome Lucas into our Spanish F4 team for the coming season”, said MP Motorsport’s team principal, Sander Dorsman. “He has been a shining star in karts, and Spanish F4 will form an excellent proving ground for his first season in single-seater racing. 2024 is going to be a particularly strong year for us, I’m sure of that, with Griffin going for his second year in the series, joined by some of the most exciting talents to emerge from karting.”
Fluxá was the 2018 Spanish Alevin champion in karts before he joined the international scene in 2019, instantly claiming second place in the IAME Euro Series at X30 Mini level and finishing tenth in the IAME International Finals. Moving up to Junior level in 2020, the Spaniard took second in the LeCont Trophy before excelling by winning the WSK Final Cup in 2021. Sixth in the 2021 IAME International Games was followed by strong results in the 2022 and 2023 Champions of the Future Euro Series at OK level. Fluxá also finished 12th in the 2022 FIA World Championship for OK Juniors.
