Lots of overtaking in Budapest

FRECA — June 24, 2024

Having two ways to reflect and adapt after the races at Zandvoort, the FRECA team travelled to Budapest for the fourth round of the season. During the teams’ home race in The Netherlands, we scored points to solidify our position in the team standings, and are looking to expand. Let’s say, we are Hung(a)ry for more!

Qualifying

New to our driver line-up this weekend was Isaac Barashi, who replaced Nikita as he was driving in Barcelona with F3. Isaac qualified in P32 for the first race and increased his performance by getting 30nd in the second Qualifying Session. Nikhil qualified in the 23rd and also improved in the second session by qualifying in 19th. Valerio got P18 in both races and was in front of the MP grid in both upcoming races.

Race 1

Valerio made some good moves during the first race of the weekend, gaining a total of five places compared to his starting position. He got his best result this season by finishing the race 11th. Nikhil also improved during the race, overtaking four opponents to get P19. Isaac finished in P28 after fighting off several competitors and enhancing his position.

Race 2

Nikhil started the final race of the weekend excellent by going from P19 to P14 and held off his competitors well. Valerio fell back but managed to get his starting position back getting P18. He sadly lost a position in the final laps and ended at P19. A big chunk of time was taken away in the second race after a big crash, leaving no drivers harmed. Isaac got hit in the back, which he wasn’t responsible for, under the Safety Car. This meant a sudden end to his race, unfortunately.

Leaving Budapest without points and disappointment, but with a lot of knowledge to implement into the next round. Good overtakes and some solid driving makes ur keep our heads up high and eager for the upcoming weekend. This will take us to Mugello, Italy.

Standings after the fourth round of racing
