Our FRECA team moved to Monza for round 8 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, also known as the Temple of Speed. This round we were back with 2 cars instead of 3.
Both cars finished in the top 10 during Qualifying 1, with Victor in P9 and Sami in P10. Later that afternoon, lights went out for Race 1. The race was filled with safety cars and unfortunately, Sami had a moment in turn 1 after the first restart which resulted in a DNF. However, Victor managed to score P2 thanks to post-race penalties for other drivers. This was his first podium of the season.
Qualifying 2 saw Sami in P11 and Victor in P20. Due to Sami’s incident on Saturday, he had to start in P18 because of a 5-grid place penalty. It was a clean race for both MP drivers but ended 4 minutes early due to a red flag caused by 2 cars colliding. Sami managed to finish in P11 and Victor in P19.
Driver standings after round 7:
P8 Sami – 71 points
P14 Victor – 38 points
Team standings after round 7:
P6 – 117 points
FRECA will go to the Netherlands to race at Zandvoort for their penultimate round in mid-October!
