Following the sun to Mugello with FRECA

FRECA — July 15, 2024

Marking the end of the first half of FRECA racing this year, the MP team travelled to Mugello, Italy. The previous race weekend at the Hungaroring gave us Valerio’s best result until now, finishing in 11th place. Nikita returned to the line-up after getting replaced by Isaac in Budapest due to his double campaign.

Qualifying

For the weekend’s first Qualifying Session, our drivers got on track Saturday morning. The weather wasn’t forgiving, as the circuit got hot quickly. Nikita did find an amazing pace throughout the session and managed to secure a P9 on the overall grid. Valerio got P16 in the end with Nikhil following him up at the 19th position. For the first time this season, Valerio outqualified both of his teammates in the second Qualifying Session, getting P11. Nikita wasn’t far behind at fourteenth, with Nikhil finishing the MP grid at P19.

Race 1

Nikita converted his grid position into a good performance, gaining a place and ending the first race of the weekend in the eighth position. Valerio managed to do the same as his teammate, also gaining a position on track and getting a P15. Nikhil was less fortunate and lost two places compared to his starting position, ending the Saturday with a P21 finish.

Race 2

During the second race, Valerio sadly lost a few positions dropping back to 15th, which was his result as well. This made it a double P15 finish in his home country. Nikita dropped two places throughout the race getting P16 in the end, right behind Valerio. Nikhil got P26 to round up the weekend.

With the season being fully underway, we are content with the progress we made as a team, as well as very excited for the second half. This will start in one week already, taking us up north to Paul Ricard in France.

Standings after the fifth round of racing:
P14 Nikita – 18 points
P20 Nikhil – 1 point
P22 Valerio – 0 points

Team standings
P8 – 19 points
