Two full days of racing by the FRECA teams took over the Hockenheim ring last weekend. The championship is considered a big stepping stone onto the higher feeder series, which always excites us to see what the MP drivers are bringing to the table this year.
Qualifying
The first qualifying session of the season Nikita managed to finish at P6, Nikhil at P12 and Valerio ended the MP grid at P14. The second qualifying session resulted in inferior results compared to the previous one. Nikhil qualified at P13, Nikita at P14 and Valerio at P22. Lots of improving to do during the races.
Saturday
During the race, there was a lot of shuffling in positions, but Nikita overtook a total of five positions which led to him finishing sixth place on the grid! Nikhil drove a steady race and passed four competitors to end on P12. Valerio lost a couple of positions in the first few laps but did manage to hold the fourteenth position in his debut race of the FRECA championship. On day one, the first points were scored!
Sunday
At the start of the race, Nikhil went wide and fell back to the twenty-seventh position. Nikita had a great start and had driven into a point position in the timespan of three laps, which he kept until the end of the race. P8 for the newest addition to our FRECA line-up. Valerio wasn’t able to overtake as many drivers as he wanted but did manage to finish in the top twenty, ending at the eponymous position.
Overall a debut weekend with lots to take away from and learn to apply on our next race weekend of the season. This will be in Spa-Francorchamps starting on the 26th of May.
