Two important podiums in Jeddah
MP Motorsport leaves Saudi Arabia with two important podium finishes and double points for the second round in the FIA Formula 2 championship. Jehan Daruvala finished both races in third position. Dennis Hauger had a difficult qualifying session but made up for it by scoring points in both races.
The team had a moderate weekend in Bahrain during the first round. Despite Dennis achieving a podium position with a second place there, he crashed out in the second race and Daruvala picked up three points in the entire weekend. Daruvala had a good qualifying session on Friday in Djedda, where he qualified fifth. Due to a late red flag and the session not being restarted, Hauger had to start from the 15th position.
Both drivers showed incredible pace in both races over the weekend. On Saturday, Hauger grabbed the final point just before the finish and finished eighth. Daruvala started from the fifth position and quickly showed he was fighting for a podium. In an attempt to take over the lead of the race, he made a mistake, eventually having to settle for third position.
During the Feature Race on Sunday, Hauger finished thick in the points in fifth position. In doing so, he regained 10 positions. Daruvala was allowed to start from the fourth position but lost a spot during the start. He drove in the top five for the entire race, individual mistakes by other drivers allowed him to take advantage and thus take his second podium finish of the weekend.
