FIA Formula 2 Round 13 Monza

Formula 2 — September 6, 2023

It is the penultimate round of the season and we are in The Temple of Speed, also known as Monza. The Italian GP was the second race in the doubleheader, where we ended the Feature Race with double points.

Friday’s free practice saw Jehan in P19 and Dennis in P20. The end of qualifying turned out to be a bit hectic with some cars not being able to set a lap in the end, this was due to all the drivers wanting to set a fast lap at the same time. The MP drivers were able to put in a lap and ended up qualifying with Dennis in P11 and Jehan in P16.

The Sprint Race started with a safety car in the first lap. Dennis was able to move up to P8 and Jehan to P14 after the restart. Another safety car got deployed and Jehan got tapped on the restart and dropped to P19. Dennis got that lap forced over the gravel which made him lose positions and get back on the track in P12. We crossed the line with Dennis in P13 and Jehan in P18.

We started the Feature Race with different strategies. Jehan started on the mediums while Dennis started on the softer compound. After the first safety car restart and first pitstops, Jehan decided to say out which put him in P1, while Dennis ended in P10 after a pitstop. After another late safety car Jehan was called in from P4 for a pitstop, he came out in P11. Dennis moved up to P6. Crawford brought out the safety car on the last 2 laps which meant we finished behind it. Dennis finished P5 and Jehan P7 due to penalties for other drivers and great strategic calls by the team.

Driver standings after round 13:
P8 Dennis – 102 points
P12 Jehan – 59 points
Team standings after round 13:
P5 – 161 points

The last race of the season will be held in Abu Dhabi from the 24th till the 26th of November.
