Poles, podiums and wins
Poles, podiums and a win
For the first time ever single seaters were racing on the Kuwait Motor Town circuit, starting with F4 UAE and Formula Regional Middle East Championship. It turned out to be a chaotic event, with ups and downs for MP. There were a few changes in the lineup: In F4 we were only driving with 2 cars this round, Valerio Rinicella and Emely de Heus. Our FRMEC lineup is set with Mari Boya, Sami Meguetounif, Brad Benavides and a rotating fourth car, Joshua Duerksen will take place in it for this and the upcoming third round in Kuwait.
Formula 4 UAE
In both F4 and FRMEC, we showed great pace, due to the pole positions we took. Starting with Valerio who had two great qualifying sessions, including one pole position. Emely finished both qualifying sessions in P34. She was able to gain 6 positions in the second race when she finished on P25. Valerio brought home two trophies, both finishing in the second position. During the final race, he finished in P3 but got promoted to P2 after post-race penalties.
FRMEC
Our FRMEC round came with ups and downs. Starting with two great qualifying sessions, as Joshua took pole in Q1 and Sami took pole in Q2. Unfortunately, those big highs came down very quickly, as during Race 1 all our cars got involved in the same crash. During the opening laps, 12 cars crashed in turn 2. The race was immediately over for Joshua, Mari and Brad. Sami could continue but finished in the 17th position. Brad’s car had too much damage to be able to start the other two races of the weekend.
The third race was definitely the best, with a double podium for MP: a win for Sami and a third position for Joshua. Right after the start Sami and Joshua were fighting for the lead, which Sami won. After a safety car period, Joshua wasn’t able to keep Antonelli behind him but did secure the podium position. Sami was able to defend till the end and saw the finish line first.
The next F4 UAE / FRMEC race will be next week, as the championships stay in Kuwait. The races will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
