After three races in Portimao, our Eurocup-3 team travelled up north to the beautiful track of Paul Ricard. A circuit where the championship hasn’t driven before. Having not won a race during the previous round, we were eager to recover from the educational weekend and implement the improvements.
Qualifying 1
The first Qualifying Session of the weekend went decent for our drivers, with Bruno getting P2, followed by Javier and Owen at P3 and 4. Emmo got P7 and our rookie Dario managed to secure P11 on the grid for Race 1.
Race 1
The start of Race 1 couldn’t have gone better for Bruno, who made a great move and took P1. He kept his position and won for the first time since the Red Bull Ring a few weeks back. Javier, unfortunately, fell back a position with two minutes to go but still finished on the podium by getting P3, with Owen following behind him at P5. Emmo got P8, Dario sadly dropped back a few positions which meant a P19 for the Swiss.
Qualifying 2
Bruno and Javier swapped places compared to the first Qualifying Session, with Javier getting second this time and Bruno third. Emmo followed not too far behind and got P4. Owen struggled a little bit during the session and was going to start on the fourth row at P8, with Dario right behind him in the ninth position.
Race 2
The weekend didn’t end the way it should’ve for Bruno, who camped with technical issues at the start of Race 2. This led to him having to claw his way back up. He eventually ended in the points by finishing 10th. Javier held his position well and was in contention for the win, but had to settle for P2. Emmo fell back two places to sixth, and Dario got P22 to end off the MP grid for the second race.
Remaining at the top of the team standings with a total of four wins, looking forward to the next round already. This one will be a home race for the team, taking us to Zandvoort right here in The Netherlands!
