This weekend was the first round of the newly established Eurocup-3 championship, where we kicked the season off on the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. A weekend with highs, lows, pole positions and DNF’s.
Our weekend began on Friday with two qualifying sessions, which ended with a double pole for Mari! In Qualifying 1 the results were P1 Mari, P3 Bruno, P7 Joss, P12 Sebastian G. and due to an engine issue Sebastian O. didn’t get to qualify in either of the sessions. For Qualifying 2 the weather conditions changed and there was some heavy rain, but with a gamble on slick tyres Mari managed to get pole in this session as well. The rest of the drivers qualified: P4 Bruno, P8 Joss, P12 Sebastian G.
With the starting grid from Qualifying 1 we went into our first race of the season and weekend. Tricky conditions with the rain and drying track didn’t work in our favour. Mari unfortunately lost the lead of the race early on and ended in P4. Sebastian Ogaard made a fantastic comeback from not being able to qualify at all, to P5 in the end! Bruno ended the race in P8, Sebastian G. in P12 and Joss did not finish the race due to collisions.
Saturday’s Race 2 saw a place on the top step of the podium for Mari, who lost the lead of the race early on but managed to snatch it back up a few laps before the checkered flag fell. Bruno unfortunately, ended his race early due to a collision. Saturday ended with Joss in P6, Sebastian O. in P8, Sebastian G. in P12 and Bruno with an unfortunate DNF. A good result for the team with 3 of our cars in the top 10!
