Home sweet home this week for the Eurocup-3 team, as we were getting ready for the fifth round of the season in Zandvoort. After a successful weekend at Paul Ricard with Bruno winning the first race, we were eager to see what home soil had in store. Even in July one thing is certain in The Netherlands; lots and lots of rain.
Qualifying
The first Qualifying Session of the weekend was on Friday, with Javier getting his first pole position of the season. Dario was right behind him at P2, his best qualifying position until now. Bruno got P5, Owen P7, and Emmo fell just short of a top-ten finish getting P11. Javier repeated his performance during the second session, getting back-to-back poles. Bruno and Owen followed in his footsteps, getting P2 and P3. Dario got P8, with Emmo finishing P10.
Race 1
We were scared by a big crash involving two drivers at the beginning of the race. Thankfully they both made it out alright and even got back into the car for race 2 a day later. However, this abrupted the race with a long red flag period, and due to the weather, multiple safety cars were deployed. Due to all of this, we’ve had a total of 3 laps to race. Javier turned his pole position into his second win of the season. Bruno got onto the podium at P3, followed by Owen at P4. Emmo got eighth, and Dario unfortunately went off in the final part of the race not being able to finish.
Race 2
One win in Zandvoort wasn’t enough for Javier, who made it a double on Sunday by getting his second win! Bruno once again was the driver challenging our winner the most, getting P2 in the end. Owen got P4 once more, with Dario getting P10 and Emmo P17.
For the final three rounds of the season, the Eurocup-3 MP team is getting back to Spain. Starting at Aragón on the 26th of July, Javier will try and extend his lead in the championship.
