Young Danish driver Sebastian Gravlund has signed for MP Motorsport to compete in his first full season of single-seater racing. Together with the Dutch team, the 16-year-old will launch an attack on the Spanish Formula 4 Championship.
Supported by Team Denmark, Gravlund made his single-seater debut in September 2021 by joining the Danish Formula 4 Championship halfway into the season, and immediately made his mark with three podiums and eight points finishes from the nine remaining races. The young Dane will now step up for his first full season of Formula 4 in the highly competitive environment of the Spanish series.
“I’m very happy to have signed to race for MP in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship”, said Gravlund. “They have been the team to beat for years now, and really know how to win in Formula 4. That will give me the best possible foundation for a great first year in single-seaters. I very much look forward to go racing!”
“At MP, we’re delighted to welcome Sebastian to our Formula 4 team”, said MP Motorsport’s team principal Sander Dorsman. “Seb has had a great start to his motorsport career with a string of great results in the Danish championship, and that experience will give him a head start as he joins us to embark on his first full season of single-seaters in Spanish F4. I’m positive that he will do well.”
Before stepping up to single-seaters, Gravlund raced in his national karting championship as a cadet before moving onto the international scene in 2017, first at 60 Mini level, then up to OK Juniors in 2018. The last three seasons Gravlund competed at OK level, taking part in WSK’s Euro Series and Super Master Series as well as the CIK-FIA World and European Karting Championships.
