May Madness

It was a month to remember, with memorable podiums and first-time wins. Get up to speed with this month’s recap!

Week 1

To kick off the month, the F1 Academy MP team travelled to Miami for the first time ever to race in the Sunshine State. Our drivers improved compared to the weekend before, scoring multiple-point finishes, with Hamda finishing both races in P6. Our stay in Miami wasn’t for long, as the team was already preparing for the first European race of the season in Barcelona.

Week 2

One week later marked the first round of the Spanish F4 and the FRECA season. For our team in Spain, it was a very productive one, especially for Lucas. He managed to not only win once, but two times in Madrid! He qualified on pole as well which made it a dream debut weekend for the Spaniard. The FRECA team learned a lot from the weekend in Hockenheim and was ready to implement it into the next round which was taking place in Spa-Francorchamps.

Week 3

The Eurocup-3 season already got underway in March and continued by travelling to Spielberg in Austria. Here, the team achieved something very special. During the two races, our drivers provided an all-MP podium. That’s right, all the eye could see was orange. Owen and Bruno were the winners of the previously mentioned races.

Week 4

Spielberg wasn’t the only place where a winner was crowned. Both the Formula 2 and Formula 3 teams attended the Imola GP, which was one to remember for Franco. After a fantastic move in the last lap of the Sprint Race, he overtook the pole sitters and got his first-ever F2 victory. He wasn’t the only MP driver stepping onto the podium that weekend, as Tim also managed to secure a P2 in the F3 Sprint Race.

The last weekend of May was just like the previous one; packed with racing. FRECA took over Spa-Francorchamps, where Nikhil managed to get his first point of the season. Monaco was turned upside down again because of the historical Grand Prix. Once again, Tim managed to secure his second P2 of the season after an amazing Sprint Race on Saturday. Dennis followed in his footsteps by also stepping onto the podium due to a third-place finish!

Five wins, fourteen podiums, and many points scored, that’s what we would call an amazing month of May! We are already excited for June, which will start on the second weekend in which FRECA, Eurocup-3, and the Spanish F4 are going to burn some rubber again.
