The first race weekend of the Eurocup-3 season has finished, and we didn’t have to wait long for the first victory. After two cancelled qualifying sessions on Friday, the weather cleared up enough for our drivers to start the first race of the weekend.
Javier started from P2, fought off the competition during the race, and took home the win. Following him up was Emmo, who gained multiple positions and finished at P4. Not far behind was rookie Dario, who finished the race as the eighth driver on the grid and second-best rookie. The driver who took the biggest hit because of the cancelled qualifying sessions was Bruno, who sadly had to start at the 24th position on the grid. The Spaniard fought back well and managed to secure P18. Owen sadly wasn’t able to start the race after getting pole position due to setting the fastest lap during training due to technical difficulties.
After celebrating the win on a Friday we were looking forward to continuing our momentum during the second race on Saturday. Sadly, it was cancelled just like the qualifying sessions due to the weather conditions on the track. This did cement Javier’s place on the standings this season and will continue as the frontrunner going into the second race weekend which is taking us to the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
Standings after the first round of racing:
P1 Javier – 26 points
P4 Emmo – 12 points
P8 Dario – 4 points
P11 Bruno – 0 points
P16 Owen – 0 points
