Round 2 of the Formula Regional Middle Eastern Championship was in Abu Dhabi for the second time. However, this time we had a different layout. It was a hectic weekend that rewarded us with multiple points.
Qualifying 1 and 2 happened on the Friday. Valerio managed to qualify in P10, Bruno in P14, Emerson in P15 and Nikhil in P21 for Qualifying 1. Qualifying 2 saw Valerio break in the top 10 with a P9, Emerson in P13, Bruno in P16 and Nikhil in P20.
Race 1 was the first session of the Saturday. Nikhil made up some places and drove up to P12 ahead of Valerio, who lost places and finished in P13. Bruno finished in P17. Emerson’s car stopped driving on the last lap but managed to get to the finish in P26.
Race 2 happened on Saturday as well. Nikhil’s race ended early, and he had to retire after the first lap. Emerson had an issue and retired too. Valerio scored his first points and ended in P7, and Bruno in P13.
Race 3 was action-packed until the final lap. All MP drivers were in contention for points. However, a long-lasting safety car reduced the race to just one final lap. Bruno lost his front wing after contact, finishing in P20. Emerson narrowly missed points in P12, while Nikhil made a remarkable comeback, starting from P20 and raced to P8. Valerio finished ahead in P6.
