Double points
The first race weekend of the Formula Regional Championship 2023 season gave us some valuable points. Our 3 drivers showed a good pace during the whole event, in a very tough championship with top-class drivers. The 3 of them scored their first points of the season.
After two great test sessions, the result of qualifying 1 was a bit disappointing, with Sami and Victor receiving a penalty for non-respecting yellow flags. Dilano’s last lap was improving a lot but he had to back off because of traffic and couldn’t finish his lap. Race 1 was great for us, even though we, unfortunately, finished just outside of the points. Victor and Dilano were flying and offered us some impressive overtakes.
On Sunday morning, Dilano had a good pace in the 2nd qualifying session but had to slow down in his last lap because of yellow flags. Sami struggled a bit more, and Victor set the fastest time for our team, being P5 of his group. Our 3 drivers managed to escape the numerous race incidents in the afternoon. Thanks to a clean race, a fast car and a great drive, they all gained several places and scored their first points this season. Victor finished just outside of the podium, Dilano in 7th and Sami right behind him. Unfortunately, due to a jump start, Sami received a 10-second post-race penalty and fell out of the points.

FRECA will be back on track in less than a month, in Barcelona, where we will for sure be fighting for podiums!
